Strong partnerships with local growers: That’s why we collaborate with Godis Grønt

At Meyers, we work every day to develop our food culture - and we don’t do it alone in the kitchens, but in collaboration with the growers who cultivate the ingredients. Because when vegetables are grown with care, you can taste it all the way to the canteen. That’s why we collaborate with a select group of Danish growers who share our view on quality, seasonality, and responsibility. One of them is Godis Grønt.

A living market garden in Lejre

Godis Grønt is a small organic market garden in Lejre, where more than 60 different vegetables are grown with a focus on both flavor and biodiversity.

Here, they don’t work against nature, but with it. The soil is never left bare, but is part of a circular crop rotation, where plants, microorganisms, and people exist in a living interplay. This strengthens soil health, makes the plants more resilient, and results in vegetables with more character.

“ The healthier the soil, the healthier the vegetables.

When the ingredient sets the direction

In our canteen kitchens, we work every day to serve meals that both taste good and do good. When vegetables from Godis Grønt arrive in the kitchen, they are not just another ingredient - they are a starting point.

This means that the menu is not only planned based on ideas, but also on what is in season, what has been harvested, and what is at its very best right now. Some days it is crisp cabbages and root vegetables. Other days it is fresh herbs, leafy greens, or the first tender shoots. It requires flexibility, but it also brings life to the food and allows our guests to follow the rhythm of the seasons on their plates.

Fewer steps – closer relationships

The collaboration with Godis Grønt is part of a broader ambition to work more closely with Danish producers.

When we collaborate directly with growers, we gain not only better ingredients but also a relationship. An understanding of how food is produced—and what requires time, hands, and care.

This makes us sharper in the kitchen. And it enables us to create meals where quality and responsibility go hand in hand.

From canteen to food culture

At Meyers, we see the canteen as more than just a place to eat. It is a place where food culture is shaped in everyday life.

When thousands of people eat with us every day, there is an opportunity to make a difference - for flavor, for health, and for the way we think about ingredients.

By bringing vegetables from growers like Godis Grønt into our kitchens, we help shift the meal - closer to the season, closer to the soil, and closer to what we truly want to eat.
